Zane LajoiceBlog post #1 With my Genius hour project I plan to give information on several unique skiing locations around the UP. I plan to give ticket prices for each of these hills and how much rentals are. I want to put up interesting videos of skiers doing there thing! I also want to put up any offers i can find on their websites and see what events the hills are having and what days. These are the tasks i hope to accomplish.
Blog post #2 Failure The article read is called Genius hour: What kids can learn from failure. The article talks about how in a Genius hour class it is acceptable to fail. It is a learning experience and teachers do not necessarily want their students to fail but if they do it will help the student to better problem solve and learn on what their mistake was. From what i have learned from reading this article it is not that big of a deal to fail, it is a better learning experience and I will use this concept in my genius hour project to think of how i will better enforce my ideas. Blog post #3The author in this article interprets a genius as someone who thinks like this when problem solving. "How many different ways can I looks at it?" , "How can I rethink the way I see it?" , and "How many different ways can I solve it?" instead of "What have i been taught by someone else on how to solve this." They tend to come up with many different responses, some of which are unconventional and possibly unique. It is the willingness to express multiple ways to explore what is important. Genius's think metaphorically, they think in opposites, make novel combinations, produce, make their thoughts visible, and genius's prepare themselves for chance. I guess my genius hour project encourages me to think in some of the ways a genius would. For instance working on these projects i tend to try to make my thoughts on a subject visible.
